Gongga stands with an astonishing 6,000m vertical relief from the Dadu River valley to its needle summit. Trekking past mani stone piles, hanging icefalls, and grazing yaks offers an unforgettable blend of Tibetan Buddhist spirituality and sheer mountaineering majesty.

Cultural notes: Regarded as sacred in Tibetan Buddhism (Minya Konka meaning “White Snowy Peak of Minya”). Gongga Gompa was founded in the 13th century by the Karma Kagyu lineage, serving as a haven for hermit meditators.

Wildlife notes: Home to Blue Sheep (Bharal), Red Pandas in lower bamboo gorges, Snow Leopards on high talus scree, and White-eared Pheasants.
